Sun Country Highway launches world’s longest EV rally

EV MapThe trans-continental EV rally, which started in Seattle, Washington on Sept. 3, 2013, rolled out of Vancouver’s Concord Pacific Place on September 4, marking the launch of the  Canadian leg of the rally.

The Sun Country Highway rally is intended to raise awareness of the EV network in Canada and set a record for the world’s longest EV race when it finishes in Prince Edward Island later this month.

Dubbed the E-Mazing Race, the event is in celebration of the ability of electric vehicles to conquer one of the most climatically diverse and geographically challenging continents in the world—made possible because of Sun Country Highway’s cross-Canada EV-charging network.

The Sun Country Highway network of more than 1,000 charging stations was set up in less than a year without any government assistance.  Working ahead of the automotive industry’s current standards, the network possesses the most powerful EV chargers and the most advanced cord management solutions in the market, which will allow racers to spend more time on the road and less time charging their vehicles.

There is no admission fee to participate and all EV owners across Canada and the USA are welcome to join the race at any point along the way. In addition to experiencing emission-free travel, participants can charge their vehicles free of charge at most locations on the Sun Country Highway network.

Prizes will be awarded to racers who make the journey and for those who stop at the most Sun Country Highway EV chargers.

The journey can be followed on Twitter  @SunCountryHwy  and Facebook http://www.facebook.com/suncountryhighway.
