Canada’s next generation of creators invited to bring their ‘curiosity’ to Lexus Design Award competition

LexusLexus Canada is calling on Canadian designers from all fields – from architecture to fashion to consumer products – to enter the second annual global Lexus Design Award competition for a chance to exhibit their works during Milan Design Week 2014.

Twelve winners will be selected by a panel of six judges who are world-renowned designers. Each winner will be invited to attend Milan Design Week in April 2014.

In addition, two of the winners will be provided the opportunity to work with assigned mentors to create a prototype of their award-winning designs, which will be put on display in Milan.

The theme for this year’s competition is curiosity.

“At Lexus, we spend a great deal of our time thinking about how we can integrate our curiosity into improving our designs and exhilarating our customers,” said Cyril Dimitris, director of Lexus Canada. “We hope that the theme of ‘curiosity’ challenges and inspires this year’s entrants and that these awards contribute toward supporting the next generation of creators, both here in Canada and globally.”

Last year, the inaugural Lexus Design Award drew more than 1,200 submissions from 72 countries.

The application deadline is October 15, 2013.

Applications are to be submitted online at http://www.designboom.com/competition/lexus-design-award-2014. The 12 winners will be announced in early 2014.
