{"id":4826,"date":"2012-05-30T16:22:53","date_gmt":"2012-05-30T23:22:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.westerndriver.com\/?p=4826"},"modified":"2012-05-30T16:26:06","modified_gmt":"2012-05-30T23:26:06","slug":"bcaa-partners-with-kidney-car-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westerndriver.com\/?p=4826","title":{"rendered":"BCAA partners with Kidney Car Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>June 3-9, 2012 is Canada&#8217;s Environment Week and vehicle owners are being encouraged to donate their unused vehicle(s) to the Kidney Car Program.<\/p>\n<p>The Kidney Car Program is part of a unique series of \u201crecycle for life\u201d programs developed by The Kidney Foundation of Canada that benefit the environment, vehicle owners and people affected by kidney disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemoving unsafe vehicles from our roads through the Kidney Car Program is an environmentally sound way to make our roads safer,\u201d said Allan Lamb, president and COO of the BCAA Road Safety Foundation, which has partnered with The Kidney Foundation of Canada in the program.<\/p>\n<p>With BCAA Road Safety Foundation\u2019s involvement and BCAA\u2019s network of towing contractors, the Kidney Car Program is being extended province wide in B.C.<\/p>\n<p>The BCAA Road Safety Foundation receives 50 per cent of the proceeds from each vehicle donated by BCAA members.<\/p>\n<p>How does the Kidney Car program work?<\/p>\n<p>The program accepts trucks, motorcycles, trailers, ATVs or even farm equipment. Donors receive a free vehicle tow and a tax receipt.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1995, the Kidney Car Program has recycled almost 25,000 vehicles.
