General Information:

Dubbed “The Greatest Show on British Wheels,” the Vancouver All British Field Meet (ABFM) will celebrate its 33rd year on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Featured marques are (i) one of the world’s most beloved British sports cars, the Austin-Healey Frogeye or Bugeye Sprite, celebrating its 60th anniversary, plus Land Rover and Jaguar XK120, celebrating 70 years.

There will also be a special feature display of 50-year-old cars. Expect to be surprised and enlightened by the technology & design that was a part of the heyday of British auto design.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

FRIDAY MAY 18, 2018: Meet & Greet/Silent Auction—5:30pm to 8:30pm       The celebration begins Friday May 18, 2018, with a no-host Meet & Greet Reception/Silent Auction & Entrants Pack Pickup at VanDusen Botanical Garden, 37th & Oak St., Vancouver, BC. All ABFM registered entrants may collect their entrant’s pack in the VanDusen Main Lobby .

Registered entrants attending the Meet & Greet Reception/Silent Auction event (register on entry form) receive one (1) complimentary drink ticket: choice of coffee, tea, wine or beer, served at Truffles Café, adjoinging the VanDusen Main Lobby Reception area. The event provides an opportunity to pick up entrants’ packs, spend time with fellow enthusiasts and place bids on Silent Auction items.

Complimentary overnight parking at VanDusen Parking Lot for ABFM registered entrants.

SATURDAY May 19, 2018: Vancouver ABFM (33rd annual)—7am-4:30pm     

The celebration continues on Saturday May 19, 2018, on the magnificent lawns of VanDusen Botanical Garden, with brass band music, pipe band, food trucks, swap meet, dealer future classics, restoration demonstrations, cars for sale corral and vendor booths. All of which complement the spectacular display of British cars and motorcycles and make this a very special garden party for enthusiasts and those merely looking for a walk down memory lane. If you own a British car or motorcycle or have a car for sale, fill out the 2018 Entry Form to register.

  • 7:00am – 9:30am Car placement 10am – 4:30pm Gates open to public: Car display, swap meet, vendors, food trucks, exhibitors, cars for sale corral & bandstandshows • 10am – 3:30pm Event Merchandise and Regalia for sale—ABFM tent • 1:30pm – Entrants’ Choice and individual class voting closes • 3:30pm – 4:30pm Awards presentation, special prize draws. Note: All vehicles must remain parked in field position until conclusion of the Award Ceremony at 4:30pm—Vancouver Parks Board Liability Ruling. Gates Locked and Marshalled—NO EXCEPTIONS.

1 Car Entry (registered by April 30, 2018): $28; Additional car entries (registered by April 30, 2018): $22 each

1 Car Entry (registered May 1-18, 2018): $35; Additional car entries (registered May 1-18, 2018): $28 each

1 Motorcycle Entry (registered by May 18, 2018): $17 each

Awards

British-built vehicles and motorcycles (including military and commercial vehicles) in any condition, including restoration projects, replica, re-engineered and modified vehicles are encouraged to be part of this annual event. Recognition is given to owners who have done a fine job of maintaining or restoring their vehicle(s). This is not a concours-judged event, awards recognize & encourage all levels of interest in the hobby as follows:

Class Awards (Entrants Choice Voting): 60 Classes—3 Awards per class

Entrants vote for First-, Second- and Third-place, with award plaques presented in 60 classes. Entrants do not vote for their own class.

  Sponsors’ Awards (Entrants Choice Voting)

Entrants vote for Most Elegant Car, Neatest Little Car, and Entrant’s Choice Overall.

  Sponsors’ Awards (Judged)

Judged by qualified experts nominated by the Vancouver ABFM show organizers, Patrick & Joan Stewart; and Chief Judge Nigel Matthews.

Best Debuting Restoration ($50,000-$100,000); Best Debuting Restoration (More than $100,000); Best Debuting Restoration (under $50,000);

Best First-Time Entrant; Best Original, Unrestored Car; Best Modified Car; Youngtimer Entrant Award; Lewie Award; Motor Mouth Spirit Award; Best Motorcycle; Land Rover Spirit Award; and Edd Award.

Long Distance Driver Award

Awarded to the entrant who has driven his/her entered car the most kilometres to attend the event within one week of the show date. Car must be pre-1988. In the event of a tie regarding distance, the older of the vehicles will be declared the winner.

  Featured Marque Awards (Judged)

Presented by the marque’s club president and/or the award sponsor. The 2018 event will honour Austin-Healey Frogeye or Bugeye Sprite, and recognize 70 years of Land Rover and Jaguar XK120.

 Age 30 & Under Youngtimer Entrant Award (Judged)

If you are entering a car or motorcycle and you are aged 30 or younger, check the applicable box on the entry form for consideration by the ABFM judges.

  Student Judging Award (Judged)

To encourage the involvement of young people in the classic car hobby. Cars will be selected and judged by a team of automotive students from NASKARZ and other young adults (17-21 years old).

The Mike Powley Motor Mouth Spirit Award

Presented to the person who best represents a true classic British-car enthusiast. Decided by

ABFM selection committee, in consultation with David and Marianne Powley.

Lewie Award Recognizing a person who has contributed significantly to the classic car

 Edd Langelier Award The Edd Award recognizes long-time volunteer service within the classic car hobby.

SUNDAY May 20, 2018: Vancouver-Whistler All-British Run—8:30am-3pm

The weekend culminates on Sunday May 20, 2018, with a drive one of the world’s most scenic roads, the Sea-to-Sky Highway from West Vancouver to the resort Town of Whistler. Maximum number of 120 cars will be displayed in the rejuvenated Whistler Creekside Village plaza, site of the first Whistler gondola. The fun day includes awards and prizes. Note: Because of Liability rules, please do not register if you have to leave the Creekside Plaza earlier than 3pm. Register early, event sold out for the last few years.

  • 9am-10:30am Depart at will from Park Royal South Mall, West Vancouver, BC. Complimentary coffee and muffins 10am-3pm Whistler Creekside Plaza car display, exhibitors & prizes. Each Vancouver-Whistler All-British Run car entry receives a metal dash plaque and is eligible for applicable special Prize Draws including a trip for two.

The weekend culminates on Sunday May 20, 2018, with a drive on one of the world’s most scenic roads, the Sea-to-Sky Highway from West Vancouver to the resort Town of Whistler. Maximum number of 120 cars will be displayed in the rejuvenated Whistler Creekside Village plaza, site of the first Whistler gondola. The fun day includes awards and prizes.
